The walk from the main terminal to the recently extended pier for domestic passengers could have been a bit dull to say the least. We were asked to come up with supergraphics to not only brighten up the space but also to give a flavour of Scotland and it’s capital. By marrying famous quotes and poems with stunning panoramic images we think we achieved just what was required.
We art-directed Jason Baxter, a local photographer who owned a beast of a camera which could take 300Mb panoramas in one go. The problem was it only had a fixed focus so most of the images have been layered afterwards in post-production. Not only that, the camera was so big and expensive it created a few heart flutters just getting it into position for some of the shots.
The finished results were produced at 15 metres x 3 metres and ran down the travelator side of the connector pier. Scotland’s First Minister did the unveiling, accompanied by bagpipes!
