Inspired Ventures is a social business providing bespoke charitable foundation services for charities, businesses, and individuals. It supports these foundations through Together Inspired, an online social networking/fundraising platform designed to inspire collaborative fundraising and promote charitable giving, and Inspired Escapes, a travel company offering group adventures and challenges that emphasise social and environmental responsibility.

No-Nonsense Design has been intimately involved in all aspects of the design process, from strategic thinking to website design to promotional material.

Our clients are based all over the UK and beyond, but in this case we did some work for a local pharmaceutical and life sciences recruitment company, based just a few doors away from us.

They needed an identity and website to reflect the very specific sector they work in. After studying the visual landscape of their clients, their competitors and the big players in the industry, we came up with some logo concepts, a colour palette and other visuals.

These were then carried forward to the website, which includes a live database of vacancies. The client was very happy with the result and has asked us to be involved in future projects.

Heathrow is one of the world’s busiest airports, handling over 80 million passengers in 2019. An operation of this scale brings with it a requirement for access to online resources and data from the public and also staff and suppliers.

We’ve operated a number of public and private websites on behalf of Heathrow Airport, some of which provide information and data that is of interest to specific groups. There is one for daily operational data, one for how environmentally ‘clean’ the planes are and one for an independent accessibility group to monitor Heathrow’s performance.

Others enable staff and suppliers to download resources to assist them in the running of the airport. One is a directory of all the logos of airlines, their ground handlers, retailers and additional services. This website also features tailfin designs and all of Heathrow’s pictograms. Another site has a ready-made library of branded temporary signs covering wayfinding, construction, emergencies and facilities management. Over 1,200 signs have been pre-produced but there is still the option to make your own with our bespoke sign app.

These websites require regular updates, sometimes daily or weekly. As well as regularly scheduled updates, we are on call to publish data at short notice as and when required.

Naturally, the websites are all mobile-responsive, which means they will change layout dynamically to fit all display sizes.

As well as supporting Heathrow’s charity balls, we also help them with ‘Race the Plane’, a special charity event that started in the departures hall in Terminal 5 but has since moved to underneath the ‘Slipstream’ sculpture in Terminal 2. Hosted every two years, 28 teams of 13 riders have to pedal Wattbikes at 16mph for at least five and half hours to beat a plane travelling thousands of miles at 500mph.

We help with the comms, graphics, medals, trophies and signage on the day for free to support the deserving charities.

We also run the website that allows teams to sign up and reserve their place prior to the event, before transforming into a place to view race reports and galleries after the event.

We’ve had visits from the BBC One Show and most recently Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex (but he never got on a bike!).

Every now and again we get approached by a previous client who’s changed roles or moved to help them out again. In this instance, a previous client had moved to Germany for work and had a friend who needed help.

Tracie, a Canadian by birth but also working primarily in Germany, already had a successful auditing business – QAC – but it couldn’t promote her other far-reaching interests and passions. So we separated out the two offers and created her own brand so she could explain these other skills easier.

The ‘logo’ is a stylised version of her own signature and the revised palette unifies her own offer and her company’s.

The rebranding also includes websites, social media and a whole host of e-books.

A simple branding project came with a few challenges as the layout of the space is complicated. Entry is at ground level with stairs and a lift to the main area on the first floor. Then there are two mezzanine areas and some further treatment rooms on the second floor.

The play area has large MDF cut-out trees as the main feature so the brand became an extension of that with a leaf theme.

Colours are more muted than you would assume for a children’s area – as this space is a chance for the mums to rest, relax and catch up with other mums while the kids can be let loose.

Since 2014 we have helped the Trust show how they have spent their charitable grants within their five local boroughs.

The simple report format is a folded up 630x420mm poster that folds down to a 210x210mm square brochure.

We have also designed and continue to host their website for them.

A simple but effective identity, the ‘EB’ creates a badge that can be used as a subtle branding element in it’s own right.

We are now helping the client further to expand the brand into bespoke consultations and life goal assessments.

The EB mark works well on designer goods – either blind embossed or as a silver pendant attached to the items – used as a ‘thank you’ by the client for an introduction or a placement.

We’re appreciative of our approved supplier position with Heathrow – and when there’s an opportunity to say ‘thank you’, we take it. Since 2008 we have given our creative ideas, designs and time for free to support Heathrow’s fund-raising efforts. To date over £500,000 has been raised for good causes from the balls.

Held every two years, Heathrow hosted these prestigious charity balls. Funds were raised from ticket sales and an auction, raffle and competitions, which feature prizes donated by sponsors.

Each ball had a different theme, from ‘The lost city of Atlantis’ to ‘Keep Calm and Carry On’ and from ‘Blanc et Noir’ to ‘Around the world in 80 days’, we had a great opportunity to have fun. 2018’s theme was ‘Carnival’ which allowed us to play with individual aspects of Carnevale di Venezia, Día de Muertos and Carnaval do Brasil.

A themed website allowed sponsors to sign up and reserve their tables prior to the event, before transforming into a place to view reports and galleries after the event.

As a major employer and international travel hub, London Stansted Airport has a requirement to supply data and online resources for employees, customers and the local community.

For a number of years we have been operated several websites for the airport, which provide vital travel information and community resources for the local area.

We are called upon the update the websites on a regular basis in the form of news posts, downloads and content changes.

Our creative input consists of designing the layout of the websites, which adapts dynamically to suit all display sizes, as well as identity and logo design.
